ABSTRAC: This research was conducted to determine the factors that cause errors in speaking at the fourth semester students of English. The aim of this research is to describe the factors that cause errors in speaking at the fourth semester students of English education study program at Muhammadiyah Kotabumi University academic year 2023/2024. This study used descriptive qualitative method. Data collection in this research was interviews and documentation. The total number of respondents was 36 students and only 10 students were taken from the highest final exams score so that only 10 students were used in this research. This research uses steps to analyze data, namely data condensation, data display, and conclusions drawing/verification. From the analysis of this research, it was found that the problems experienced by students had two factors, namely linguistic factors or lack of pronunciation, lack of vocabulary, and lack of grammar, while non-linguistic factors included lack of self-confidence, anxiety, shyness, lack of motivation, and fear of making errors. This proves that 10 students tend to have errors in speaking English.
