AN ANALYSIS OF TRANSITIVITY OF SHORT STORY “THERE WILL COME SOFT RAINS” BY RAY BRADBURY

Abstract:

Abstract: Transitivity is a way of analyzing short stories at the clause level. The purpose of this study aims to found the dominant aspect of transitivity like processes, participants and circumstances in the short story “There Will Come Soft Rains” By Ray Bradbury. This study is conducted by applying descriptive qualitative method. All the source of data for this study was taken from the short story “There Will Come Soft Rains” by Ray Bradbury. Method used in this study is qualitative research. Data collecting techniques in this study by classifying data, coding techniques and analyzing all data. The steps in analyzing the data are identifying short stories and selecting them as data, classifying and analyzing the data based on aspect of transitivity, and breaking the text into several clauses.
