Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.

  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, or RTF document file format.
  • Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  • The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.

Pengabdian Kepada Masyarakat Cendekia is a peer-reviewed journal published by the Center for Intellectual Property and Scientific Publications, University of Muhammadiyah Kotabumi. The journal serves as a platform for academics, researchers, and practitioners to disseminate findings, innovations, and practices related to community service activities across various sectors. It is published biannually, in February and November.

1. Scope and Focus


This journal accepts articles focusing on the application of science, technology, and social approaches in community empowerment. Submissions can be in the form of empirical research articles or theoretical-critical reviews addressing societal issues and contributing to community development.

2. Manuscript Preparation Guidelines


To ensure consistency and quality, all manuscripts must adhere to the following format:

  • Length: 8–15 pages, including tables, figures, and references.
  • Spacing: 1.5 lines throughout.
  • Paper Size: A4 (21 cm × 29.7 cm).
  • Margins: Left 3 cm; Top, Right, and Bottom 2.5 cm.
  • Font: Times New Roman, size 12 pt.
  • Format: Microsoft Word (.doc/.docx).

3. Structure for Empirical Research Articles


Empirical manuscripts should follow the structure below:

  • Title, Author(s), and Affiliation
  • Abstract: In English and Indonesian, 150–200 words each, summarizing objectives, methods, results, and implications.
  • Keywords: 3–5 keywords.
  • Content:
    • Introduction (25%): Provides background, identifies the problem, states the purpose and hypotheses, and explains the theoretical framework.
    • Methods (15%): Describes design, population/sample, instruments, data collection, and data analysis techniques.
    • Results (25%): Presents findings clearly, supported by tables or figures as necessary.
    • Discussion (30%): Interprets the results, compares them with prior studies, discusses implications and limitations.
    • Conclusions and Suggestions (5%): Summarizes findings and provides recommendations for practice or future studies.
    • References: Listed in APA format.

4. Structure for Theoretical-Critical Review Articles


Review articles should follow this structure:

  • Title, Author(s), and Affiliation
  • Abstract: In English and Indonesian, 150–200 words each, outlining purpose and core arguments.
  • Keywords: 3–5 keywords.
  • Content:
    • Introduction (15%): States the problem, objective, background, and scope.
    • Discussion (75%): Organized into sub-sections discussing literature and critical analysis of concepts or practices.
    • Conclusions and Suggestions (10%): Provides concluding insights and recommendations.
    • References: Listed in APA format.

5. Additional Requirements


  • Completion Details: Include the place and date of article completion and revision at the end of the manuscript.
  • Author Identity: A brief biography, along with identifiers such as ORCID or NIDN, must appear as a footnote on the first page.

6. Citation and Reference Formatting


Use the APA (7th edition) referencing style. In-text citations follow the author-date format. Examples:

  • Books: Author's Last Name, First Initial. (Year). Book title in italics. City: Publisher.
  • Journal Articles: Author's Last Name, First Initial. (Year). "Article title." Journal Name, Volume(Number), page range.
  • Online Journal Articles: Author's Last Name, First Initial. (Year). Article title. Journal Name, Volume(Number), page range. Retrieved from URL.

7. Submission Process


Manuscripts must be submitted online through:

  • juma.umko.ac.id
  • Note: Submit your manuscript at least two months prior to the publication month (February or November).

8. Review and Notification


Authors will receive notifications regarding the acceptance or rejection of their submissions via the journal’s online system. Authors are encouraged to frequently monitor the status of their manuscripts.
