Author Guidelines
Pengabdian Kepada Masyarakat Cendekia is a journal that collects articles related to the implementation of community service. This journal is published twice a year, in February and November. It is published by the Center for Intellectual Property and Scientific Publications, University of Muhammadiyah Kotabumi. The editor invites academics and practitioners from various sectors (universities, government, NGOs, etc.) to submit their work.
1. General Guidelines
Manuscripts submitted must be original and have not been published or submitted elsewhere. The content must align with the journal's focus on community service implementation. Both empirical research and theoretical-critical review articles are accepted. Manuscripts must be written in academic English or Indonesian and demonstrate clarity, coherence, and proper scholarly style.
2. Article Format & Length
To maintain consistency, all submitted manuscripts must adhere to the following formatting standards:
- Length: Minimum 8 pages and maximum 15 pages, including tables, figures, and references.
- Spacing: 1.5 lines throughout the document.
- Paper size: A4 (21 cm x 29.7 cm).
- Margins: Left 3 cm; Right, Top, and Bottom 2.5 cm.
- Font: Times New Roman, size 12.
- File format: Submit as a Microsoft Word document (.doc or .docx).
3. Structure of Empirical Research Articles
Empirical articles must be structured as follows, with suggested page proportions to guide balanced content development:
- Title, Author's Name, and Affiliation: Clearly stated at the top of the manuscript.
- Abstract: Provided in both English and Indonesian, each 150–200 words summarizing the objectives, methodology, results, and significance.
- Keywords: 3–5 relevant terms reflecting the core content.
- Main Content:
- Introduction (25%): Describes the research background, identifies the problem, states the objectives, elaborates on theoretical framework and hypothesis.
- Research Methods (15%): Details on research design, data sources, sampling, instruments, data collection, and analysis procedures.
- Results (25%): Presentation of findings using narrative, tables, or figures. Clear explanation of significant outcomes.
- Discussion (30%): Interpretation of results, comparison with previous studies, implications for practice, and theoretical contributions.
- Conclusions and Suggestions (5%): Concise summary of findings and practical recommendations.
- Bibliography: Comprehensive list of cited sources following APA style.
4. Structure of Theoretical-Critical Review Articles
Theoretical-critical articles analyze or review literature and concepts. The structure is as follows:
- Title, Author's Name, and Affiliation: Appears at the beginning of the manuscript.
- Abstract: Written in English and Indonesian, each 150–200 words outlining the scope, focus, and conclusion of the review.
- Keywords: 3–5 representative terms.
- Main Content:
- Introduction (15%): Presents the background, identifies the gap in literature, states the purpose and scope of the review.
- Discussion (75%): Divided into sub-sections. Includes extensive literature review and critical analysis, comparative discussion of theories and frameworks.
- Conclusions and Suggestions (10%): Summarizes key insights and proposes further research or practical applications.
- References: APA-style list of cited works.
5. Additional Manuscript Components
- Completion Date: Indicate the place and date of completion and revision at the end of the article.
- Author's Bio: Include a short biography and research identity (e.g., ORCID, NIDN) as a footnote on the first page.
6. Citation & Reference Style
APA (American Psychological Association) style is required for in-text citations and references. Use the author-date system. Examples of reference formatting:
- Books:
- Author's Last Name, First Name. (Year). Book Title. City: Publisher.
- Journal Articles:
- Author's Last Name, First Name. (Year). "Article Title." Journal Name, Volume(Number), pages.
- Online Journal Articles:
- Author's Last Name, First Name. (Year). Article Title. Journal Name, Volume(Number), pages. Retrieved from URL.
7. Submission Procedure
- All submission should be submitted via: juma.umko.ac.id
- All manuscripts must be submitted at least two months before the target publication month (February or November).
8. Notification
Decisions on acceptance or rejection will be communicated through the respective submission portal. Authors are advised to monitor their submission status regularly.
