Review Method

Justine uses an online submission and review system. Submission and peer review for each article must be managed through this system and in accordance with the following peer review policy.

  1. The Justine editorial board is responsible for the selection of papers and the selection of reviewers.
  2. Articles will only be processed if they follow the author guidelines and the journal template.
  3. Every manuscript is screened for similarity before it is sent to reviewers. The maximum accepted similarity level is 25%.
  4. Each manuscript is reviewed by at least two independent reviewers.
  5. Reviewers are selected based on their experience in reviewing manuscripts or on their area of specialisation.
  6. The reviewer is not aware of the identity of the author, and the author does not know the identity of the reviewer (double-blind review).
  7. The review process considers novelty, objectivity, methodology, the validity of testing and results, scientific impact, conclusions, and references.
  8. The normal review period is four weeks from the date the manuscript is assigned to the reviewer.
  9. The editor sends the final decision to the corresponding author based on the reviewers' recommendations.
  10. The editorial board protects the confidentiality of all material submitted to the journal and of all communication with reviewers.
  11. Prior to publication, authors must agree to the copyright notice of this journal.
  12. The editorial board follows the journal's policy on the disclosure of conflicts of interest by authors and reviewers.
  13. Justine has three types of decision:
    • Accepted
    • Revision required — the manuscript will be accepted after revision
    • Rejected — generally on the grounds of falling outside the focus and scope of the journal, major methodological or technical problems, or lack of clarity of presentation
